The House
More than just a room
Chambreplus isn’t your typical hotel. It’s a characterful townhouse on the Hoogpoort, with a story, a green city garden and people who welcome you personally.
The Hoogpoort: one of Ghent’s oldest streets

Chambreplus is located on the Hoogpoort, for centuries one of Ghent’s busiest thoroughfares, running between the count’s domain and St Bavo’s Cathedral and the Town Hall. The street has a 15th-century core and a row of façades that beautifully show the passage of time: old guild houses of the crossbow archers of St George and the goldsmiths, alongside richly decorated 18th-century townhouses.
Our own building shares in that street’s history: like its neighbours, it bears witness to centuries of Ghent’s civic architecture, right in what is still the beating heart of the city.
Kris’s story
Chambreplus is owned by Kris. He was looking for a central location in Ghent to move his travel agency Kriski Plus to, and instantly fell in love with this charming townhouse and its green city garden.
That’s why Chambreplus is closely linked with Kriski Plus: the travel agency has its office in the same building. Arriving during office hours? You’ll be warmly welcomed by Kato. Arriving later, and have you already paid in advance? Then we’ll simply give you a personal code for the front door.
The city garden

The cosy city garden is there for all Chambreplus guests to enjoy. In summer, relax by the little pond, or simply have breakfast and lunch outside.
